All of us, at some point in our lives, have faced the problem of acne and pimples. Some people are more prone to these problems while others are less. There are many reasons for acne and pimples breakouts, but few main reasons stress, hormonal changes and increased pitta dosha (heat) in the body. In one of my previous posts, I talked about the reasons and some remedies, so please go check it out if you are looking for Ayurvedic solutions. In Today’s post, I will discuss the Top 3 poses in yoga for acne and pimples, practising these regularly will give you clear and acne-free skin.
1. Yoga For Acne – Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutation)
You all must have heard about sun salutations, but fewer people have actually heard about Chandra Namaskar or moon salutations and what benefits it can bring to a person’s health. If you have increased pitta dosha, it is a great idea to practice Chandra Namaskar as it aligns your body’s energy with the moon which is cool and calming in nature, hence pacifying imbalanced pitta dosha creating a sense of relaxation and coolness and promotes creativity. It helps decrease stress and strengthen your back, glutes, and ankles.
Best Time To Practice
The best time to practice a moon salutation is in the evening when the moon is up in the sky. Although you can do it any time of the day, but for the best results, practice it with the moon.

2. Yoga For Acne – Simhasana (Lion Pose)
This is one of the most beneficial poses for the face muscles. It is usually practised less by people because it makes you look kinda funny! When practising Simhasana which is a word derived from a Sanskrit word Simha meaning Lion, you make the face of a lion and create a roar like sound. This makes your face muscles taught and increases blood circulation. You look younger and chances of developing acne and pimples reduce.
Check out following video for the demonstration on how to practice Simhasana
3. Yoga For Acne – Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose)
Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand is a pose that takes a bit of time to master but it is excellent for many parts of your body, not just for the skin. One of the reasons I am recommending this asana for skin problems is that it works on your digestive system and liver. These are two body parts which eliminate toxins and wastes from your body. Improper elimination and a toxic liver can make your blood impure which is one of the main reason for all skin issues. It can lead to eczema, dermatitis, severe acne breakouts. There is a lot more to this asana than you can imagine. It will also avoid the development of wrinkles on your face and gives younger-looking skin.
Sarvangasana can be practised any time of the day but yoga is most beneficial when done early morning. Check out this detailed video below about the method to practice.
